Climate

East Africa faces multiple climate challenges that threaten its development and human security. These include rising temperatures, erratic rainfall patterns, increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, and sea level rise. These challenges affect various sectors such as agriculture, health, water, energy, infrastructure and biodiversity, and exacerbate existing vulnerabilities such as poverty, inequality, conflict and displacement.

Currently we are working with the Governments of Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia to adapt to climate change and mitigate its effects, by providing technical assistance, knowledge and partnerships. This includes in the area of Index Based Livestock Insurance (IBLI), where we are working with other partners in the delineation of Unit Areas of Insurance in these three countries and strengthening the  insurance sector.
